Warmsprings takes it name from the hot springs located in the area. Originally, the town's name was separated into two words but now has been combined. The town was most significantly known for the state hospital established in 1895 for the mentally ill.

Warmsprings is located in southwestern Montana, between Butte and Deer Lodge on I-90.
