Joliet was originally a shipping point for grains and vegetable products grown in this rich land. The town was named after a railroad official of the Northern Pacific Railroad who was from Joliet, Illinois. The first post office was established in 1893 with Maud Smith as postmaster.Juliet is located south central area of Montana, southwest of Billings on US Highway 212.
