Lima was named after an early settler, Henry Thompson's home town, Lima, Wisconsin. The first post office was established in 1889 with William Bernstein as postmaster. The community is situated near the Montana and Idaho near the Red Rock River.Lima is located in south western area of Montana, on I-15 South of Dillon.
