St. Mary Trail descends toward the St. Mary River, and then at .3 mile it junctions with the Piegan Pass trail. Turn right for St. Mary Falls and Virginia Falls. At .7 mile, junction with St. Mary trail, and turn left for the falls. The trail crosses St. Mary River at 1.2 miles at the St. Mary Falls. The trail ascends and continues on the south side of the St. Mary valley.
