Lake Isabel can be accessed by hiking the trail departing from the north end of the Walton Ranger Station complex, which is located on US Highway 2 at the southernmost extremity of the park

The trail then northwest following the Middle Fork of the Flathead River. At 1.1 miles, take junction with Ole Creek Trail, staying to the left for Lake Isabel. Then at 1.5 miles, take junction toward Scalplock Lookout trail, staying to left. The trail then leaves the Middle Fork (3.2 miles), turning northeast up the Park Creek valley. You will come to Lower Park Creek Campground at 3.2 miles, junction with Fielding-Coal Creek trail. At 7.2 miles the trail to Lake Isabel and Two medicine Pass exits the campground to the north of the patrol cabin. The trail then ascends, following Park Creek. At 14.6 miles you will reach the Upper Park Creek Campground. Junction with Two Medicine Pass trail, staying left for Lake Isabel. Trail then climbs to the north For Lake Isabel campground.
