The Bar Gulch Trail is actually an old road through a timbered gulch. This trail intersects the Cave Gulch Trail which extends hiking opportunities. The trail is mainly used for hunting but also offer both hiking and camping. Trail difficulty is moderate and recommended all year.

Directions: Travel east from Townsend on U.S. Highway 12 approximately 2 miles, then north on State Highway 284 approximately 25 miles to Magpie Gulch Road 425, then north approximately 4 miles to Bar Gulch. Turn left at Bar Gulch and drive approximately 0.5 mile to the end of the road.
