We welcome you to ranch country - the wide-open spaces, nature's beauty, abundant wildlife and old-fashioned ranch hospitality where guests quickly feel like part of the family.

The Jarrett family has been in the Montana ranching business since the 1880's when great-great grandfather Mendenhall settled across the Yellowstone River from what is now the home place. Today the ranch is situated on 4500 acres at the foot of the Crazy Mountains, (2500 at the home place and 2000 leased on the Boulder River) with an 8000-acre grazing permit in the Gallatin Range. The ranch continues to focus on production agriculture and works 300 head of reputation Black Angus cattle and 200 head of sheep. Cattle drives and roundups offer the more accomplished rider outstanding opportunities to experience Montana heritage up close and personal. Seeing this part of the country from the back of a good horse truly brings the feeling of the Old West to life. We want to share this with you.

We only host one family or small group at a time and that results in a more intimate and hands-on experience for our guests. Kids and adults enjoy this ranch vacation because everyone becomes educated about nature and the environment. Guests learn how ranchers are working to preserve and improve agricultural landscapes by following good stewardship practices. Crazy Mountain Cattle Company is a leader in eco-farming/ranching and agri-tourism for families by families.

The ranch is a haven for families and friends to spend time together in a low-key relaxing atmosphere. Popular activities include seasonal ranch chores, watching wildlife, fishing, hunting (pheasant, deer & antelope), ranch tours and local rodeos. Lambing time is a favorite on the ranch as is spring calving. There is no set program. Guests can observe and take part in every day activities, go on nature hikes, follow in the footsteps of Lewis and Clark or trace the Bozeman Trail. We can connect you with the appropriate people. Bird watchers will enjoy following the ranch's Blue Bird Trail and being part of monitoring the recovery program of this wonderful native bird. Regardless of whether you choose a ranch activity or just want to rest and relax, we'll have the hot tub ready so you can soak under the stars at the end of the day.

Accommodations: The remodeled bunkhouse is comfortable and charming with private bath. The requisite bunk bed has a double bed on the bottom and twin on the top. The guest room in the ranch house also has a double bed. For those seeking a private retreat to get away from it all, we offer outings to the tipi nestled along scenic Duck Creek. The panoramic views from the tipi site include both the Crazy Mountains and the Absarokee Range of the Rocky Mountains.
