Mount Silcox Wildlife Management Area encompasses 1,552 acres.

Management goal: To provide winter and spring range for bighorn sheep, to provide recreational access to adjacent public lands, to provide winter range for elk and year-round habitat for white-tailed and mule deer and turkeys.

Hunting opportunities: Archery opportunities for white-tailed and mule deer and black bears; limited archery elk hunting, but provides access to good elk country. also general hunting season opportunities for elk, white-tailed and mule deer, black bears, and upland game birds. A special permit is required to hunt turkeys during spring and fall.

Wildlife viewing: Visitors occasionally see elk from the parking area which remains open all winter. Bighorn sheep are visible from late October through mid-April, primarily in the rocky cliffs along the eastern edge of the Wildlife Management Area.

White-tailed and mule deer, black bears, and turkeys are vest viewed during the spring, summer and fall when the Wildlife Management Area is open to travel. visitors occasionally spot mountain goats in the steep cliffs adjacent to the eastern boundary. Songbirds, woodpeckers, ospreys, owls, grouse and an occasional coyote also frequent the Wildlife Management Area.

Directions: Mount Silcox Wildlife Management Area is located in Sanders County, two miles east of Thompson Falls on Montana Highway 200. Parking area and horse loading ramp is available off State Highway 200.
