Bear Creek Angler Outfitters says, 'Better the Outfitter.

better the fly fishing adventure!'

'I would be pleased if you would join us on Montana's magnificent rivers and streams. My staff and I offer assistance and instruction in all aspects of fly fishing for trout. Trips of one to several days are tailored to meet your specific needs and you will benefit from our many years of fly fishing experience, our knowledge of the trout, their behavior and their environment.'

Floating on miles of Montana's famous blue ribbon rivers offers the fisherman an experience that is unmatched. Drifting through spectacular scenery and watching the varied wildlife while searching for that special Rainbow or Brown trout is a vacation not soon forgotten. Trips are offered on the Madison, Yellowstone and Jefferson. These rivers are long and large and we concentrate on those sections that are most productive.

For those who would rather concentrate on a shorter stretch of river, walk a secluded streams or float tube a lake seeking that trophy Rainbow, this is an option.

For the adventuresome and those who want something different, a one to five day horse pack trip into the Absaroka wilderness of south central Montana can be the adventure of a lifetime. You will ride through the most scenic country in Montana, looking for elk, moose and bear. We will guide you to exceptional fishing for native Cutthroat trout on Upper Slough Creek and Hellroaring Creek. And at the end of the day you will relax in a comfortable remote camp. This is the type of unique vacation that you and your family or friends will always remember.

From mid-April through June: Cool nights and warming days help produce great nymph and streamer fishing. Dry fly action includes Pale Morning Duns and Midges. The Mother's Day Caddis hatch can be spectacular. The latter part of this season is during the spring runoff and we concentrate on smaller steams and tailwater fisheries.

During July: This is a prime time for dry flies and the famous salmon fly hatch is in full swing on most of the rivers in the area. May flies, caddis and stone flies are abundant. Matching the hatch or using the larger attractor patterns provides opportunities to test your skills.

From August through mid-September: This is the time of the year when the trout move to the banks to feed on the hordes of grasshoppers, and ants and beetles that fall into the water. Large Rainbows and Browns fin anxiously, ready to 'explode' on hopper patterns with a tenacity that will test your nerves.

From mid-September through October: The water is perfect; crowds are gone; the fishing is great; the scenery is at its best and the wildlife most abundant. Fishing streamers for spawning Browns from a drift boat or walk-wading is an exciting adventure.

From November until mid-April: Overlooked by many, winter offers remarkable opportunities to fish for large Rainbows. Many waters remain open throughout the winter and can be fished comfortably wearing neoprene waders. Even though dry fly fishing is possible, nymph fishing is usually the most productive. Join us for a winter fly fishing trip - a welcome break during your Montana ski vacation.
