Gather up the kids and head to the 41st annual Homesteader Days celebration sponsored by the Huntley Project Lions and Lioness Clubs. The celebration and fun are scheduled for Saturday, July 16th, and Sunday, July 17th, at Homesteader Hall. Two exciting days of fun and family activities are planned for the young, old and everybody in between. A 4-H Club exhibition featuring chickens, rabbits and dogs will start the festivities before the parade on Saturday, the parade starts at 11:30 am each day. World-famous barbecued beef and chicken dinners as well as hot dogs and hamburgers will be served. Various clubs will have food booths and games. The world-infamous Beer Garden will have a band playing music with a dance floor. There will also be a 'Fun on the Farm' arts and crafts show in the hall. The free show on Saturday night will feature professional live entertainment. A brilliant (and free) fireworks display and a teen dance will climax Saturday evening. Rise and shine early on Sunday morning for the nondenominational church service which will be held at 10:00am. Later on Sunday enjoy the revelry as local taverns and saloons compete against each other for prizes and local bragging rights in the tug-of-war competition. The gates will open at 8:00am both days. Everyone should find plenty to do and to see with all these activities. It is a good time to see old friends and make new ones. We hope to see you there!
