Mountain men, cavalry, infantry, Indians, traders, scouts, buffalo hunters, whiskey runners, mule skinners and horse traders from all over the world descend on Red Lodge for the Montana 1830s Encampment. Look for rustic camps, including a multitude of teepees and tents. Goods from the early 1800's will be brought by traders and will include jewelry, trade beads, pistols, costumes and artwork of the fur trade era. Howell's Encampment is an actual fur-trapper brigade campsite used in 1836 and 1837. Directions: Montana 1830s Encampment at Howell's Encampment will be held near Rockvale, Montana, 32 miles north of Red Lodge. Just follow the signs!
