Pepperbox is a working ranch raising and training a small herd of select Texas longhorn cattle and paint horses. The ranch is nestled in the lush green forests of Montana's Bitterroot Mountains. The cold clear waters of the river run through the ranch. There are very few places left where the mountain scenery is as beautiful, the wildlife as abundant, or the outdoor adventure as exciting!

We have a full selection of activities to choose from: fishing, gold panning, horseback riding, archery, roping, wagon and buggy rides, hiking, cross country skiing, sleigh rides, snow shoeing, and much more. But, you may want to just relax by the river or curl up by the fire with a good book. Cozy log cabins are rich in Early American charm, each with a fireplace or a wood burning stove, private bath, spacious porch, hand-made quilts and a cookie jar filled with homemade cookies. Our delicious home-made meals are served family style so that everyone can share the events of the day.

Pepperbox Ranch is western hospitality at its best! Come and share the fast vanishing atmosphere of the old West!

Directions: Pepperbox Ranch is located about 90 miles south west of Missoula, Montana in the Bitterroot mountains, surrounded by the Bitterroot National Forest on the West Fork of the Bitterroot River. You take Highway 93 south from Missoula to Highway 473. We are about 10 miles south of Painted Rocks Lake on Highway 473.
