This section of trail is only a portion of the Continental Divide Trail. The hike is easy, and the trail is in good condition. The majority of the trail is surrounded by a closed canopy of Douglas-fir and lodgepole pine. The few vistas that are offered are outstanding. Parking is available at the trailhead. No water or loading ramps are available

.This is only a portion of the Continental Divide on the Lincoln Ranger District. The entire Continental Divide Trail extends from the Scapegoat Wilderness boundary, south to Nevada Mountain. This small portion is probably the most popular section of the trail because of its easy access from Flesher Pass. The trail begins behind the information sign, and soon after, reaches a road. Follow the road for a short bit, and watch for the blaze marks on the right hand side where the trail takes off again. From here the trail meanders from closed canopy Douglas-fir to open meadow hill sides. This first mile is an excellent area to view many different wildlife species, from elk to porcupines. There are a few camping spots here also, but be sure to camp in an area free of snags as it can be very windy on the divide during all times of the year. After the first mile, the trail follows a closed canopy of Douglas-fir and lodgepole pine. Even though there are no vistas the canopy types are very diverse
