Missouri River Canyon Trail is level along the river in the woods, 2 miles one way. Start at Meriwether Picnic ground, reached by boat. Hike south to Fields Gulch and beyond onto higher level viewpoint. Views of river and limestone cliffs and formations. Coulter Campground area is halfway point, tables and water.

Length of trail is 5.0 miles. Trail begins at Forest Road 1812 and ends at Trail Junction 253. Maps avilable are the Helena National Forest VisitorMap, Gates of the mountains wilderness and Recreation Area map and USGS Map1: Upper Holter Lake.Township 12N; Range 2W; Section 7.
