Laughing Water Ranch, located in Fortine, Montana, offers western dude ranch vacation packages for families and couples. Tailored riding instruction, a variety of vista rich guided trail rides, stocked ranch trout ponds, cookouts, hot tubbing, cowboys, as well as indoor and outdoor recreation are yours at the Laughing Water Ranch. Side trips and charter fishing are also available.
Laughing Water Ranch is nestled in a beautiful mountain valley just west of Glacier National Park. Short and long trail rides are included daily in your week's stay. Our trails through aromatic pine forest and over exhilarating mountain passes encompass all levels of riding ability. We take pride in our gentle, friendly horses and great riding program.
With a guest capacity of 32, comfortable western living and full service mark the accommodations at the LWR Ranch. In the Main Lodge you will find four deluxe two-room suites with adjoining full-tiled bathrooms as well as the Chuckwagon Dining Room, Ponderosa Game Room and three massive fireplaces. Our beautiful log cabins named after famous western painters, are tastefully decorated with their artwork. Each cabin has two private rooms, baths and covered porches.
The kids will have an adventure camping out in Teepees and our Fort Laramie during part of their stay. The whole family will enjoy our Saturday night Barn Dance. The personal touch extends to cuisine, with delicious caesar salads, prime rib, eggs benedict as well as scrumptious BBQ ribs and chicken, steaks and fresh trout. All you can eat meals are served family style in the Chuckwagon Room or as cookouts at our Two Streams Indian Campsite on the banks of the Laughing Water. Savory homemade breads and cakes, crisp salads and tasty side dishes round out our meals that bring 'em back for more. Don't forget to save room for our delectable huckleberry cheesecake and pies.
During the daily trail ride we offer Kamp Kootenai/Fort Laramie children's programs. Native American culture is explored through crafts, sign language, nature walks and cook/camp-outs. The recent addition of the Fort Laramie stockade and bunkhouse provides kids with flavor of the old frontier and a barn full of fun activities for kids 4 and up! Baby sitting is also available for children under 3 and for times Kamp is not offered.
As a member of the national Dude Ranchers' and the Montana Dude Ranchers' Associations, Laughing Water Ranch provides a personalized vacation run by a professional staff. The ranch has been owned and operated by the Mikita family since 1972 and caters to families and small groups. Our Dude Ranch season runs from May to October, starting with Cattle Drives in May.
Directions: The Laughing Water Ranch is located 3 miles east of Fortine on Deep Creek Road off of US 93. The ranch can provide pick ups at the Kalispell Airport and Whitefish Train Station for an extra charge.
