It's time for Philipsburg to once again celebrate Montana's rich mining heritage with the Annual Miner's Union Picnic. The last Miner's Union Picnic was held 45 years ago, the next one will be in just a few short months! Please accept our invitation to join us and to celebrate Montana's miners and mining history. The day's scheduled events will be enjoyed by young and old alike. A perfect day for the whole family, activities will include: mining competitions, exhibits and demonstrations, 'soap box speeches', three-legged race, scavenger hunt, an old fashioned potluck picnic, sidewalk performers, street pig-roast dinner, an ice-cream eating contest, evening entertainment and much more. Dressed in turn of the century costume, local townsfolk and guests will gather on Main Street for an old style photo at 3:00pm. We encourage you to come in costume!! We hope you will join us in rekindling this annual tradition and honoring those Montana miners, their families, and their legacy upon which this great state was built. In addition, we would like to invite your organization (no fee required) to participate. Space on Main Street will be available for demonstrations and exhibits. Proceeds raised will be used to erect a monument recognizing the significant role of mining, miner's and their families in Montana's settlement and statehood.
