Members of the Lewis and Clark Honor Guard establish an encampment and demonstration area outside the building to demonstrate different skills the 1805-1806 expedition required. These outdoor activities are free.

Visitors may also enter the building to see the Interpretive Center movie and go through the self-guided hall tour. Normal admission fees apply to the building.

The grounds include interpretive trails where visitors may learn about plants the expedition gathered. Several trails also give visitors great views of the Missouri River riparian areas, as well as the surrounding plains. Some of the trails connect with the River's Edge Trail and the trail system in nearby Giant Springs Heritage State Park.

Directions: The Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail Interpretive Center can be reached by following the brown Interpretive Center / State Park signs in Great Falls. 1/4 mile from Giant Springs; 1.5 miles east of Black Eagle Dam.
