The Fort Peck Dam Interpretive Center and Museum will have its' grand opening on May 7th, 2005. The Interpretive Center is the result of a unique partnership between Fort Peck Paleontology Incorporated, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The facility will feature two of Montana's largest aquariums showcasing native and game species of Fort Peck Lake and the Missouri River. In the main lobby a life size, fleshed-out model of Peck's Rex, the Tyrannosaurus Rex discovered 20 miles southeast of Fort Peck. A skeleton cast of the Peck's Rex is on display in the exhibit hall. Other dinosaur fossils will also be exhibited. Other displays include present day and historical animals of the Charles M. Russell National Wildlife Refuge, and construction history of Fort Peck Dam.

Interpretive programs, hands-on children's programs and nature walks will be presented every weekend by guest speakers and interpretive center staff. A three mile paved nature trail runs along the center and is a popular birding and nature area. Adjacent to the center is a Class A campground and a day use recreation area with picnic shelters, playground equipment, a basketball court and horseshoe pits.

There is no admission charge for the Fort Peck Dan Interpretive Center and Museum.
