Lewis & Clark: Legal Legacies and New Perspectives will explore the historical basis and public policy questions in Montana related to tribal, federal, state and private land use; gaming, water rights and land access as legacies of Lewis & Clark's exploration and discuss why these issues are still critical to every Montanan. Keynote Presentor will be Clay Jenkinson, a Rhodes and Danforth scholar, who grew up in North Dakota between the Little Missouri and Missouri Rivers. He has taught at Pomona College, the University of Colorado, the law school at the University of North Dakota, and the University of Nevada at Reno. Clay has driven the Lewis & Clark Trail half a dozen times, hiked, canoed and kayaked whole swaths of it, camped where Lewis and Clark camped, and lounged in the sandbars of the Missouri River. He has taught institutes on Lewis & Clark and portrayed Meriwether Lewis throughout the United States.
