January 29, 2005 - Symphonies of Struggle & Triumph (Subscription Concert III).Shostakovich's Symphony No. 12, Op. 112, The Year of 1917; Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 in C Minor, Op. 68
February 27, 2005 - Mozart & the Holy Minimalists ( Subscription Concert IV).The Mozart Coronation Mass in honor of the newly installed Bishop George Leo Thomas. Join the Chorale and Orchestra for this special concert of sacred music in the Cathedral.
March 19, 2005 - 2nd Annual Evening at the Opera; SWEENEY TODD In Concert (Subscription Concert V).The Helena Symphony, along with nationally noted guest artists, will perform a concert version of Stephen Sondheim's 1979 opera about the strangest barber you (n)ever want to meet!
April 30, 2005 - 50th Anniversary Performance & Gala Events ! Mahler's Resurrection Symphony . (Subscription Concert VI) .Gustav Mahler, one of the most influential composers of the early 20th century will be featured each season for the next several years. His music tackles life, death and resurrection - the hope for salvation. The works require enormous forces - up to 1,000 performers! The Helena Symphony presents Mahler's Resurrection Symphony to celebrate this new festival and the 50th Anniversary of the Helena Symphony.
May 21, 2005 - Symphonic Salute to America (pops).A special tribute to the Armed Forces and victims of September 11th. Celebrate the music that shaped our national identity and culture - with special recognition to local police and fire fighters! Music of Gershwin, Copland, Bernstein and more.
Directions: Most Helena Symphony Concerts will take place at the Helena Civic Center, 540 Neil Avenue, on the corner of Neill & Benton Avenues, just off Highway 12 West. The Mandel's Messiah on December 12, 2004 and the February 27, 2005 concert will take place at the St. Helena Cathedral. Call 406-442-1860 for each concert location.
