Board the climate-controlled Great Falls Historic Trolley and enjoy an unforgettable, fun-filled, learning experience. Relive history and the excitement of following the route of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. See where they journeyed along on their portage around the Missouri River waterfalls, encountered dangerous attacks by buffalo and the deadly grizzly bear, and confronted other hazards in this area. Hear the thunderous roar as you behold the awesome beauty of three breathtaking waterfalls. See the world class Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center; then discover Giant Springs with its 134,000 gallons per minute flow into the world's shortest river. Enjoy the Rivers Edge Trail that beckons you to come and delight in a leisurely stroll, bike ride, or take an invigorating jog along the mighty Missouri River and waterfalls.

Learn about world-famous Cowboy Artist, Charlie Russell, as you see the museum, the log cabin studio in which he created many of his masterpieces, and the family home. You'll also see Paris Gibson Square, the first high school building constructed in 1895-1896 of magnificent huge sandstone blocks, and named after the founder of Great Falls. Hear about the critical roll of Malmstrom AFB during World War II and the current missile and space missions.

Let your imagination run wild as you see and learn about saloons and bars in this frontier town, as well as the Historic Railroad Area and Downtown. Visit the Historic Home District and marvel at the extraordinary architecture of beautiful homes and awe-inspiring churches. Relish the colorful flower gardens, ducks, geese and swans on the pond, the bandshell, and walking paths at Gibson Park.

Trolley originates at the High Plains Heritage Center, 422 2nd Street South, with boarding at the Visitor's Information Center, Heritage Inn, Holiday Inn, and Holiday Village Shopping Center. This riding tour makes a scenic stop at the Rainbow Falls Overlook where you can walk in the footsteps of Lewis & Clark and the Corps of Discovery. The 'Historic' tour provides a wonderful overview of the area which familiarizes you for a return later to enjoy a more in depth visit. If your time is limited, this is a superb tour to see the sights and learn the highlights of our fascinating city.

Two-hour historic tours are daily throughout June, July, August, and September on a first-come, first-served basis. Departures are Monday - Friday, 10:00am and 4:00pm; Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 10:00am, 1:00pm, and 4:00pm. Ask about special tours Monday - Thursday at 1:00pm, especially during 6/1-7/4/05 Lewis & Clark Bicentennial Signature event, 'Explore the Big Sky'. Fares are Adults $20, Children (age 2-12) $5. Custom tours or non-scheduled 'Historic' tours are available by reservation year round for special occasions, family or class reunions, birthdays, educational field trips, business appreciation excursions, church or fraternal groups, Scouts, 4-H, weddings, anniversaries, conventions, etc. Group rates available. Special reduced educational fares for K-8 grade students on school scheduled historic tour. Gift certificates available. 'Christmas Luminaria' tours of spectacular light displays are nightly beginning early December through the 30th and require reservations.
