This is a long range rifle competition using original or replica period firearms from the glory days of buffalo hide trade. Period attire is encouraged but not required. Largest shoot of its type in the nation. The longest target is a steel Buffalo at 800 yards. The firing line extends over 500 yards. Usually over 450 shooters from 33 states and Canada. Approximately $400,000.000 worth of rifles and equipment involved. The Match is shot every year on Fathers Day weekend. Range is open for practice and sighting in for 5 days prior to match. Friday, June 17 is registration day. This event is billed as 'The largest rifle shooting event in Eastern Montana since the Custer Massacre.'
