Elk Lake, otherwise known as Simms Lake, is about 7 acres in a steep, little timbered pocket. The shore is rather brushy, with an old cabin on the southwest corner. Used mainly by locals, fishing is primarily for cutthroat trout. As the lake is located partially on private property, permission should be obtained for shoreline use.

Directions: Take Highway 200 west of Trout Creek for 1 mile, and turn right onto the Blue Slide road. Follow approximately 4 miles to the Vermilion Road, then turn left and follow for about 9 miles, turning left onto Simms Creek Jeep Trail 2232. A pack trail to the shore will be found 2.5 miles up Simms Creek.
