What do you get when you cross alpine skiers and cowboys' Red Lodge's National Ski Joring Finals. Horse and rider pull a skier through an oval shaped speed course, which consists of three jumps and several gates. A western event of Scandinavian origin which combines the skills of a horse and rider with that of an alpine skier to negotiate a horseshoe shaped course consisting of 3-4 jumps and 16-24 alpine racing gates for the fastest combined time over two days. The Finals draws competitors from all over the West and is the culmination of the North American Ski Joring Association Circuit. It also features the longest jump competition where the skier launches off one jump and soars distances in excess of 60 feet. Crazy' You bet! Loads of fun for spectators and competitors. Cash and prizes of over $20,000 awarded. Junior champions awarded a colt and a new pair of skis. It's winter fun, western style!
