Tillmans is a beautifully restored roadhouse with rooms accommodating up to 10 guests. Originally built in the early 1900's, Tillmans served as a stop over point for people traveling to and from Malta in the Missouri River area.

Montana is often described as the Last Best Place because of its remoteness, solitude and beauty. The high plains of eastern Montana are no exception; from the spectacular sunrises and sunsets to the starry moonlit nights, the Big Sky Country is unparalleled in beauty and solitude. Tillmans offers you the opportunity to enjoy all of those attributes and more. The country is abundant in wildlife and scenery and the people are hearty, independent and friendly

Birds flourish in the rolling grain fields and on the broad prairie surrounding Tillmans Bed and Breakfast. Pheasants and huns are abundant in addition to sharp tail and sage grouse. In the fall, wild geese and ducks land along the Missouri River, making this area a goose and duck hunter's paradise. This prairie pothole region of northeastern Montana offers a wealth of bird hunting. Montana has a long upland bird season and the bag limits are generous as well. The country surrounding the Missouri River provides an unforgettable hunt. Sparsely populated, eastern Montana leaves more room for elk, deer and antelope. You will be surrounded by wildlife, even outnumbered. Hunt the wide open spaces for prong horn antelope, mule deer or whitetail. The spacious prairie around Tillmans offers hunting that you will treasure for a long time

Adventurers can witness much of the same landscape seen by Lewis and Clark. The Missouri River's reach is relatively unchanged, although the waters of Fort Peck Reservoir cover a number of the campsites used by the expedition. Along this stretch of the Missouri, there is a spectacular abundance of wildlife within what is now the second largest wildlife refuge in the continental United States. You will be awed by the beautiful back country views which is not far from Tillmans Bed and Breakfast.

Other attractions in this areas include gold panning - the nearby Little Rockies offers an excellent opportunity. The Bowdoin natural refuge provides a rare opportunity to view birds in their natural habitat. This nearby bird refuge is home to over 200 species of birds. Phillips County is also a dinosaur rich area. The Judith River Dinosaur Institute headed by Nate Murphy, provides dinosaur digs that a rare summer experience. You will find genuine dinosaur fossils while being a Paleontologist for a day. The Phillips County Museum houses an Albertosaurus Display and other dig findings.

If you are looking to escape the hustle and bustle of life and would like to experience the beauty, peace and solitude that only the last best places has to offer, Tillmans is for you!

Directions: Tillmans is served by Amtrak and is located on Highway 2, 17 miles south of Malta, Montana. There is easy access to the Little Rocky Mountains, Missouri River and the Larb Hills.
